Cadogan Petroleum restarts wells in Blazhiv field, West Ukraine

Cadogan Petroleum PLC and Ukrnafta have signed two lease contracts to resume production from Blazhiv-3 and Blazhiv-3-Monastyrets in Blazhiv field (formerly Monastyrestka license).

Cadogan Petroleum PLC and Ukrnafta have signed two lease contracts to resume production from Blazhiv-3 and Blazhiv-3-Monastyrets in Blazhiv field (formerly Monastyrestka license). The contract was signed June 18 and production has resumed from the wells after shut-in in November 2019 due to contract expiration.

Blazhiv field is in the Lviv region of West Ukraine and is part of the Carpathian fold belt (Skuba unit). The license has tested and produced oil from several wells in the Paleocene Jamna formation.

Cadogan is operator at Blazhiv. Ukrnafta is the largest oil company in Ukraine, with 62.3% share of the country’s oil and condensate production.
