Adelaide-based Cooper Energy Limited has announced that the first of its two planned development wells on its 100%-owned Sole gas field in eastern Bass Strait has been shut in for future production following successful clean-up and flow-back operations.
The Sole-3 tests were conducted on the near-horizontal 97m-long completed section within the Top Latrobe Group sandstone reservoir over a 24-hour period.
Analysis of the data confirmed that the well performance and reservoir deliverability was consistent with pre-drill expectations.
The flow rate was constrained by surface well test equipment to a maximum of 48 MMcfd of gas through a 104/64-in. choke. A 9-hr test through a choke size of 88/64 inches flowed at an average of 38 MMcfd.
Post-test analysis suggested Sole-3 is capable of producing above the maximum shore plant throughput rate of 68 terajoules/day.
The well has now been suspended prior to pipeline connection. Pipe laying operations to connect the field to the Orbost onshore processing plant in east Gippsland will begin in October this year.
The rig will now move to Sole-4 to complete the project’s drilling requirement.
