LONDON, Aug. 21 -- Brunei Shell Petroleum has contracted the Maersk Convincer jack up rig for 1 year to drill off Brunei with an option to twice extend the 1-year contract.
The rig, built at the Jurong Shipyard in Singapore and owned by Maersk Contractors, Copenhagen, can operate in water as deep as 375 ft in most parts of the world, including harsh environments in the central and southern areas of the North Sea.
It has a Baker Marine Pacific Class 375 design and is an upgrade on conventional jack ups, with highly mechanized equipment qualified for drilling deep and difficult wells, including high temperature-high pressure wells, Maersk Contractors said.
