Equinor adds wells for Deepsea Aberdeen and Deepsea Stavanger

Equinor Energy AS has added work scopes to Odfjell Drilling Ltd.’s Deepsea Aberdeen and Deepsea Stavanger semi-submersible drilling rigs.

Deepsea Aberdeen will drill new wells in Svalin field starting fourth-quarter 2023 for an estimated 174 days, extending the rig’s firm backlog into second-quarter 2025. Equinor can exercise further wells under options in the contract. The added firm scope has a value of about $67 million excluding integrated services, performance, and fuel-performance incentives.

Equinor also has optioned further wells under Deepsea Stavanger’s contract option mechanism which will extend its firm backlog with Equinor to first-quarter 2024. Deepsea Stavanger is currently drilling Wildcat 31/2-24 and appraisal 31/2-24 A in production license (PL) 923 (OGJ Online, Apr. 3, 2023).
