Total drilling activity in North America dropped slightly the week ended Nov. 4, with 979 rotary rigs working, reported Baker Hughes. The count is 269 more rigs working this week than at the same time last year but 1 less than last week.
The number of rotary rigs working in the US increased by 2 to 770 from 768. The count is up 220 units from the same period in 2021. There were 754 rigs onshore, 2 more than were drilling last week. The number of rigs working in inland waters and offshore remained unchanged at 2 and 14, respectively.
North Dakota gained 2 rigs this week to reach 38, while Texas, Oklahoma, and Wyoming each gained 1 additional rig to reach respective counts of 369, 67, and 24. With a count of 5, California had 2 fewer rigs working this week. Louisiana dropped a single rig to hit 59 units working.
Canada dropped 3 rigs this week to 209. The count is up 49 units from the same time a year ago.
