The US rotary rig count was unchanged at 650 rigs for the week ending Mar. 4, but up 247 from the 403 active units in the same period a year ago, said Baker Hughes.
Land operations were unchanged at 635 rigs working. Offshore drilling was flat with 12 rigs, all in the Gulf of Mexico. Inland waters activity was unchanged at 3 units.
Of the 247-rig increase from last year, oil rigs were up 209, gas rigs up 38, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at 1.
Canada’s rig count dropped by 7 to 217, still up from 141 during the same period last year.
