Serica Energy PLC has let a 3-year contract to Sparrows Offshore Group Ltd. for crane operations and maintenance services on the Bruce complex in the UK North Sea.

Sparrows will provide resident focal points, onshore engineering, refurbishment, repairs, and operations and maintenance services with engineering and technical support on site. The contract also includes lifting equipment inspection.

Bruce comprises three bridge-linked platforms including a production, utilities and quarters platform, a drilling platform, and a compression-reception platform.

The company hopes to defer cessation of production at the Bruce area until 2030 following a Competent Person’s Report which upgraded net 2P reserves from Bruce and satellite Keith and Rhum fields.

Serica is operator of Bruce (98%) after acquiring interests in the field from BP, Total E&P UK, BHP Billiton Petroleum Great Britain, and Marubeni Oil & Gas (UK) in 2018 (OGJ Online Nov. 30, 2018).
