MOL Norge to drill North Sea appraisal

MOL Norge AS has been granted consent by the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway to drill appraisal well 25/8-21 S A in PL 820 S in the North Sea.

MOL Norge AS has been granted consent by the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway to drill appraisal well 25/8-21 S A in PL 820 S in the North Sea.

This will be the third well drilled in the license after wildcat 25/8-19 S, completed on Dec. 30, 2019, and appraisal 25/8-19 A, completed on Mar. 3, 2020. 

The previous wells proved hydrocarbons at five intervals, and the Iving discovery in the Skagerrak formation is expected to hold recoverable resources of 12-71 MMboe (OGJ Online, Jan. 4, 2021).

MOL Norge is operator of the license with 40% interest. Partners are Lundin Energy Norway AS (41%), Pandion Energy AS (12.5%), and Wintershall DEA Norge AS (6.5%).
