Equinor Energy AS has been granted a drilling permit for a wildcat well in Barents Sea production license (PL) 532 by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate. The area in the license consists of parts of Blocks 7219/9, 7220/4, 7220/5, 7220/7 and 7220/8.
Well 7220/7-4—the 11th in the license—will be drilled about 10 km southwest of the 7220/8-1 discovery well (Skrugard) on Johan Castberg field by the Transocean Enabler harsh- environment semisubmersible drilling rig after drilling development wells on Johan Castberg field.
Equinor is operator of the license with 50% interest (OGJ Online, Jul. 31, 2020). Partners are Vår Energi AS (30%) and Petoro AS (20%).
