Shearwater GeoServices was let a contract to conduct a 3D seismic survey over SNE oil field offshore Senegal. The high-definition work is expected to improve reservoir definition in support of optimizing development well locations on the field.

SNE joint venture partner, FAR Ltd., Perth, said the survey is schedule to begin in June as part of SNE field’s development process. It will encompass the Rufisque Offshore, Sangomar Offshore, and Sangomar Deeo Offshore joint venture, which is operated by fellow Perth company Woodside Petroleum Ltd. Other partners include Cairn Energy and Petrosen.

Woodside has recently awarded a 4-year drilling contract for SNE field development to Diamond Drilling, which will use two drillships for an 18-well program that comes with options for an additional 8 wells.

MODEC of Japan has been awarded the front-end engineering design contract for the SNE development Phase 1 floating production, storage, and offloading vessel. The FPSO will be designed to produce 100,000 b/d of oil, anchored in 800 m of water.

Phase 1 will target 230 million bbl of oil that will be flowed from 11 producing wells, aided by 10 water injection wells and two gas injection wells.

The Phase 1 project is scheduled to be brought on stream in 2021.
