Wanhua Chemical Group Co. Ltd. has let a contract to Honeywell UOP LLC to implement its proprietary Honeywell Connected Plant Process Reliability Advisor (PRA) to provide prescriptive monitoring of a propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit at Wanhua Chemical’s petrochemical plant in Yantai, Shandong Province, in eastern China.

Wanhua will use PRA to monitor its UOP C3 Oleflex unit, which—as the world’s largest Oleflex unit—converts propane into 750,000 tonnes/year of propylene, the service provider said.

Leveraging Honeywell UOP’s proprietary process knowledge and deep troubleshooting experience, PRA continuously feeds plant data through UOP process and fault models with sophisticated software to provide the operator key performance information and process recommendations that help plants run more smoothly by detecting problems before they can affect production and plant profitability.

Implementation of PRA at Wanhua’s Oleflex unit will be the first application of the PRA service in China, Honeywell UOP said.

The service provider disclosed neither a value of the contract nor a timeframe for implementation of the PRA service.
