Pioneer Natural Resources Co., Dallas, will close its sand mine in Brady, Tex., and transition proppant supply to 100% West Texas sand sources by May 2019.
PNR anticipates sand savings of $400,000/well based on full utilization of West Texas sand. Associated with the closing, the company expects to recognize a noncash, aftertax charge of $350-400 million in this year’s fourth quarter.
