Woodside Energy Inc. has made a natural gas discovery with its Aung Siddhi prospect offshore Myanmar. The Aung Siddhi-1 exploration well encountered gas in two targets on Block AD-1 in the Rakhine basin where Woodside has interests in multiple areas (OGJ Online, Aug. 8, 2017).

The upper target intersected a 197-ft gas column with 33 ft net of pay. The lower target intersected a 147-ft gross column with 52 ft of net pay. Pressure measurements and samplings confirmed both gas columns. Woodside said it is evaluating the findings.

Woodside said in July it was preparing to spud the Shwe Yee Htun-2 appraisal will on Block A-6 to test shallow targets.

Offshore Western Australia, Woodside completed the Ferrand-1 exploration well in the WA-404-P permit, which encountered a gas column.
