Navitas Midstream lets contract for new gas plant in Midland basin

Navitas Midstream Partners LLC, The Woodlands, Tex., has let a contract to a division of Honeywell UOP LLC to deliver a 200-MMcfd cryogenic natural gas processing plant to extract NGLs from gas produced from several counties in the Midland basin of the West Texas Permian basin.

Honeywell UOP’s scope of work under the contract will include design and supply of a proprietary UOP Russell modular cryogenic plant with refrigeration and dehydration units customized for the unique, NGL-rich feed gas composition in the Midland basin, the service provider said.

The service company disclosed neither a value of the contract nor a timeframe for the project’s completion.

Existing processing capacity

Formed in 2014 to develop, acquire, and operate midstream assets across multiple basins in North America, Navitas currently operates the Spraberry-Newberry processing complex southeast of Midland, Tex., near the Midland-Glasscock county line, which has the combined capacity to process and treat 325 MMcfd of rich natural gas with multiple tailgate residue and NGL interconnections, according to the operator’s website (OGJ Online, Dec. 2, 2015).

The Spraberry plant is equipped with two cryogenic trains capable of processing 65 MMcfd with inlet CO2-treating capability for enhanced reliability and condensate stabilization, while the Newberry cryogenic processing complex located about a mile away hosts the 60-MMcfd Train 1 (completed in March 2017) as well as the 200-MMcfd Train 2 (completed in April 2018), both of which feature inlet CO2-treating capabilities.

The combined Newberry complex also is equipped with a nitrogen rejection unit.
