Libya’s National Oil Corp. (NOC) confirmed the loss of two storage tanks at Ras Lanuf port terminal on June 18. NOC had declared force majeure on crude oil loadings from Ras Lanuf and Es Sider port terminals starting June 14.

An armed militia attacked both terminals. NOC said the militia was led by Ibrahim Jadhran. NOC evacuated all employees as a precautionary measure. One employee was shot during the incursion, NOC said, adding that other NOC employees were “robbed by African armed mercenaries fighting alongside the Jadhran militia.”

Blockades led by Jadhran have cost the Libyan state tens of billions of dollars, NOC said.
