SDX Energy Inc., London, plans to complete its Rabul 4 discovery well for production on the West Gharib Block in Egypt’s Eastern Desert.

The well, drilled to 5,250 ft TD, cut 43 ft of net heavy oil pay in the Lower Miocene Yusr and Bakr formations. Average porosity is 16%.

SDX has drilled four successful wells on the Rabul structure.

It recently placed the Rabul 5 well on production with an electric submersible pump at slightly more than 2,000 b/d of oil from the Baker sand (OGJ Online, Mar. 15, 2018).

Rabul production flows to processing facilities at Meseda field, where SDX plans to drill two development wells after completion of Rabul 4.

SDX holds a 50% working interest in the block and is joint operator with Dublin International Petroleum (Egypt) Ltd., a subsidiary of TransGlobe Energy Corp. of Calgary, which holds the other 50%.
