PentaNova Energy Corp., Vancouver, BC, is installing a christmas tree and will flow-test potential gas-bearing intervals in its Istanbul-1 well on the Maria Conchita block of northern Colombia (OGJ Online, Mar. 1, 2018).

The well, drilled to 8,740 ft MD, had gas shows from Early Miocene Jimol. The formation flowed gas at a combined rate of 18 MMcfd during 1980 tests of the Texaco Aruchara-1 discovery on the same block.

Open-hole logs of Istanbul-1 indicated 88.5 ft of low-resistivity, potentially gas-bearing sands with average porosity of 20.3%.

PentaNova cut 32 sidewall core plugs, interpretation of which supported the interpretation of reservoir properties favorable for gas.

The company has cemented in a 7-in. liner to 8,732 ft MD.

PentaNova holds an 80% working interest in the 60,076-acre block and is operator. Former partners of Bochica Investment Holdings hold 20%.
