MARKET WATCH: Brief crude rally ends with steep declines

Crude oil markets continued their volatility streak Feb. 10. The New York Mercantile Exchange March crude oil contract fell $2.84 on Feb. 10, closing at $50.02/bbl. The April contract fell $2.74 to $50.93/bbl.

Crude oil markets continued their volatility streak Feb. 10. The New York Mercantile Exchange March crude oil contract fell $2.84 on Feb. 10, closing at $50.02/bbl. The April contract fell $2.74 to $50.93/bbl.

The natural gas contract for March was up 8¢ to a rounded $2.68/MMbtu on NYMEX. The Henry Hub, La., gas price was $2.63/MMbtu, up 3¢.

Heating oil for March dropped 4.02¢ to a rounded $1.83/gal. Reformulated gasoline stock for oxygenate blending for March delivery dropped 2.59¢ to a rounded $1.55/gal.

The March ICE contract for Brent crude oil lost $1.91, settling at $56.43/bbl. The April contract was lost $1.84 to $57.49/bbl. The ICE gas oil contract for March relinquished $12.50 to $553/tonne.

The average price for OPEC’s basket of 12 benchmark crudes on Feb. 10 was $53.14/bbl, down 44¢ from the previous day.
