Keyera Corp., Calgary, has appointed David Smith, currently president and chief operating officer, to the position of president and chief executive officer. He will also join the company’s board.
Smith succeeds Jim Bertram, who will assume the role of executive chair, succeeding Robert Catell, who will continue as a director. All moves take effect Jan. 1, 2015.
Smith, named president and chief operating officer in 2011, has held senior management roles with Keyera and its predecessors since the company’s inception in 1998 (OGJ Online, May 16, 2011). He has more than 30 years of experience in the energy industry in Canada. He began his career with Imperial Oil Ltd. in 1982 and joined Gulf Canada Resources Ltd. in 1991.
Bertram has served as chief executive officer since 1998 and has been a director since the company’s initial public offering in 2003.
