    Keyera appoints Smith as president, chief operating officer

    Keyera Corp., Calgary, appointed David G. Smith as president and chief operating officer. Smith currently serves as executive vice-president, liquids business unit.

    HOUSTON, May 16     -- Keyera Corp., Calgary, appointed David G. Smith as president and chief operating officer. Smith currently serves as executive vice-president, liquids business unit.

    Current Keyera Pres. and Chief Executive Officer Jim V. Bertram will continue in the role of chief executive officer.

    Keyera was founded in 1998 when Gulf Canada Resources Ltd. contributed the majority of its gas gathering and processing and NGL infrastructure facilities to a 50-50 partnership with KeySpan Corp. The partnership, Gulf Midstream Services, included several of Alberta’s large gas plants capable of processing sweet and sour natural gas plus related natural gas and NGL infrastructure.
