Heerema Tonsberg AS of Norway and UK-based Rig Design Services Ltd. have awarded a contract to Bardex Corp., Goleta, Calif., to use its rig skidding system on Statoil AS's Kvitebjørn field development platform in the North Sea. The platform will be installed in the autumn of 2002.
Softwall Equipment Corp., Salt Lake City, Utah, will evaluate and test the potential of its softwall mining technology on a tar sands mining claim in Vernal, Utah. The owners of the claim were not named.
Energy Africa Gabon SA has secured a rig to drill on its Ofoubou Ankani Block in Gabon, said block partner Stratic Energy Corp. The block is 40 km northeast of the TotalFinaElf SA-owned producing field Rabi Kounga. Owners of Ofoubou Ankani will spud an exploration well in early August.
