Lundin Petroleum AB hopes to follow the success of its recent Loppa High, southern Barents Sea Alta and Neiden discoveries with the Borslev prospect in PL609 (OGJ Online, May 11, 2017; Nov. 22, 2016). Subsidiary Lundin Norway AS spudded the 7220/6-3 well about 18 km northwest of the Neiden discovery to test reservior properties and hydrocarbon potential of Permian-Carbinoferous carbonate reserviors.

The operator estimates Borslev to contain gross unrisked resources of 244 million boe. The Leiv Eiriksson will drill the well in 35 days with a planned total depth of 1,300 m.

Lundin Norway operates PL609 with a 40% interest. Partners DEA Norge AS and Idemitsu Petroleum Norge AS hold 30% each.
