Lundin Petroleum AB is planning a possible extended reach horizontal test for 2018 at its Alta discovery in PL609 on the Loppa High in the southern Barents Sea offshore Norway.

Wholly owned subsidiary Lundin Norway AS spudded its 7220/11-4 (Alta-4) appraisal well about 2 km south of the original discovery well 7220/11-1 with the main objective of calibrating its horizontal test (OGJ Online, Oct. 14, 2014).

The Alta discovery is estimated to contain 125-400 million boe. The Alta-4 well is being drilled by Ocean Rig UDW Inc.’s Leiv Eriksson semisubmersible rig. The company estimates a 65-day drilling window.
