Kuwait Oil Co. (KOC) has let a contract to Black & Veatch Corp. (BV), Overland Park, Kan., to provide technology licensing and related services for sulfur recovery units (SRU) and acid gas removal units (AGRU) to support natural gas processing activities at KOC’s Jurassic field in northern Kuwait (OGJ Online, June 9, 2010).
As part of the contract, BV will deliver licensing, front-end engineering design, operation, and maintenance support services for two AGRUs designed for feed gas flow and three parallel, identical SRUs with dedicated tail gas treatment units for each SRU at Jurassic Gas Facility 1, which will produce about half of the field’s potential, the service company said on Dec. 12.
The project comes as part of KOC’s 2030 Upstream Strategic Objective, which seeks to optimize Kuwait’s production and utilization of associated gas and maximize production of nonassociated gas to support domestic energy needs, BV said.
The technology licensor did not reveal either a value of the contract or proposed capacities of the new units.
In its latest annual report for the year ending Mar. 31, KOC said it was continuing to implement projects designed to develop and sustain nonassociated gas reservoirs in Jurassic field in order to reach a production target of 1 MMcfd by 2022-23.
