KOC lets contract for crude oil pipeline

Kuwait Oil Co. has let a contract to ABB for a 123-km, 30-in. pipeline to carry crude oil from northern Kuwait to a tank farm and mixing manifold in Ahmadi.

-- Kuwait Oil Co. has let a contract to ABB for a 123-km, 30-in. pipeline to carry crude oil from northern Kuwait to a tank farm and mixing manifold in Ahmadi.

KOC said capacity of the pipeline will be 315,000 b/d.

ABB said construction of the pipeline and related facilities, including an expanded manifold, will allow transportation of as much as 665,000 b/d of crude, more than half from a “newly established Jurassic field in northern Kuwait.”

ABB put value of the contract, covering design, engineering, procurement, construction supervision, commissioning, and start-up, at $155 million.

The project is to be completed in spring 2012.
