Momar Nguer has been appointed president, marketing and services, and member of the executive committee of Total SA. He has served as senior vice-president, Africa and Middle East, marketing and services, since December 2011 (OGJ Online, Feb. 10, 2012).

Separately, Philippe Sauquet has been appointed interim president, new energies, from the position of president, refining and chemicals. He’s a member of the executive committee (OGJ Online, Oct. 29, 2014).

The moves, effective Apr. 15, are part of the succession plan for Philippe Boisseau, member of the executive committee, president of marketing and services, and president of new energies (OGJ Online, Jan. 11, 2007; Feb. 10, 2012).

Patrick Pouyanne, chairman and chief executive officer, noted that Boisseau will “be remembered as the man who steered Total into solar energy.”

Nguer joined Total in 1984, serving in various downstream positions. He was named vice-president, marketing, at Total Senegal in 1985; and vice-president, retail network and consumers, of Total in Africa in 1991.

In 1995, he became chief executive officer of marketing affiliate Total Cameroun and was subsequently named chief executive officer of marketing affiliate Total Kenya in 1997.
