CNOOC Ltd. said its Nexen Petroleum UK Ltd. subsidiary has started production from Rochelle gas-condensate field in the UK North Sea.

Rochelle field lies in 140 m of water on Blocks 15/26b, 15/26c, and 15/27 about 115 miles northeast of Aberdeen. The field development consists of the construction of two subsea production wells, tagged East and West Rochelle, and the installation of a production pipeline to the Scott platform.

Initial production is from West Rochelle. Drilling continues at East Rochelle, which is expected to be on line in this year’s fourth quarter. All production from Rochelle will be processed at the Nexen UK-operated Scott platform.

CNOOC-Nexen operates Rochelle with a 41% interest. Partners are Endeavour International Corp. 44% and Premier Oil PLC 15%. Premier has a 21.83% unitized interest in the Scott field facilities.

Endeavour earlier estimated that Rochelle will produce 8,000-9,000 b/d of oil equivalent (OGJ Online, July 21, 2011).
