ConocoPhillips, Maersk sign contracts for Noble high-spec jack ups

By OGJ editors

Noble Corp. announced contracts for two newbuild jack ups. As a part of its fleet renewal strategy, Noble is building six high-specification jack ups and five ultra-deepwater drillships.

The Noble Houston Colbert received a 1-year contract with ConocoPhillips in Alaska through fourth-quarter 2014 at $235,000/day.

The Noble Sam Turner received a 2-year contract through third-quarter 2016 with Maersk Oil for work in Denmark at $215,000/day.

The jack ups will be capable of drilling wells up to 35,000 ft deep in 400 ft of water. The Noble Houston Colbert is scheduled for delivery during the second-half 2013 and the Sam Turner scheduled for delivery in 2014.

The jack ups are being built upon a Friede & Goldman JU3000N design that resulted from the combined development efforts of Jurong Shipyard, Noble, and Friede & Goldman (OGJ Online, Mar. 29, 2011).
