HOUSTON, Mar. 29
-- A Noble Corp. subsidiary signed two turnkey contracts worth a total of $427.6 million with Sembcorp Marine Ltd.’s Jurong Shipyard to build two high-specification, premium jack up drilling rigs based on the same design and specification as two other rigs Noble previously ordered.

The rigs will be suitable for harsh operating conditions, including high-temperature areas such as the Middle East and in the North Sea. They will be built upon a Friede & Goldman JU3000N design that resulted from the combined development efforts of Jurong Shipyard, Noble, and Friede & Goldman.

When completed, the rigs will be capable of operating in 400 ft of water and drilling to 30,000 ft. The rigs are scheduled for delivery in third-quarter 2013 and first-quarter 2014, respectively.
