Talisman Energy Inc., Calgary, said the 2010 Akacias-1 discovery on the Ecopetrol-operated CPO-9 heavy oil block in Colombia’s Llanos basin has produced more than 325,000 bbl of oil equivalent on long-term test since May 2011.
Talisman plans to seek a declaration of commerciality for Akacias this year and will test the first appraisal well, spudded in October 2011.
Several appraisal wells are planned on the block, 60 miles southeast of Bogota, in which Ecopetrol has 55% interest and Talisman 45% (OGJ Online, Nov. 2, 2011).
Meanwhile, in the Piedemonte development, two development wells were successfully drilled in 2011 with encouraging results, and two more development wells were spudded in the third quarter. Two rigs are running in the field.
