Colombia: Ecopetrol, Talisman appraising Akacias

By OGJ editors

Colombia’s state Ecopetrol, operator of the CPO-9 heavy oil block in the Llanos basin, spudded the first of several appraisal wells on the Akacias structure in October.

The Akacias-1 well, completed in late 2010, continues to produce 1,600 b/d of oil on long-term test, said Talisman Energy Inc., whose Colombian subsidiary has 45% interest in the block. Ecopetrol has 55% interest. The discovery is 60 miles southeast of Bogota (OGJ Online, Dec. 1, 2010).
