– Colombia’s Ecopetrol and a subsidiary of Talisman Energy Inc., Calgary, gauged a heavy oil discovery on the CPO-9 block in the municipality of Acacias 60 miles southeast of Bogota, Colombia.

The Akacias-1 well averaged 1,280 b/d of 9.3° gravity oil with 9.1% water cut on artificial lift from a 352-ft net perforated interval in the T2 formation. Total depth is 11,780 ft measured depth. Horizontal displacement is 6,100 ft.

Ecopetrol is block operator with 55% interest, and Talisman (Colombia) Oil & Gas Ltd. has 45%.
