Summary
What is Human and Organizational Performance (HOP)? It can be described as a science-based approach to understanding how people interact with complexity and uncertainty in the context of normally successful work. This understanding is then used to build resilient capacity into the systems where that work is performed. HOP is not a program (and certainly not a safety program!) – it is an operational philosophy. The principles of HOP may look easy on paper, but turning principles into practice is another matter.
Hear first-hand how S&B, a leading EPC company, successfully implemented HOP into its corporate culture through:
- Creation of a compelling business case.
- Development and deployment of operational tools and practices.
- Use of employee-developed solutions to create increased system resilience, while accommodating human error and operational surprise.
S&B’s Senior Vice President of HSE, John Bolt, will also take a deep dive into:
- Prerequisites for instilling HOP as an operational philosophy.
- Pitfalls that may hinder successful deployment and long-term sustainability.
