Tackling the Issue of Hydrogen Permeation in Pressure Transmitters

While hydrogen in its normal state does not cause corrosion, it can cause a measurement related problem - hydrogen permeation - in pressure transmitters under certain circumstances if the wetted diaphragms are not protected against the ingress of hydrogen. However, this hydrogen permeation can be managed by understanding the concentration of hydrogen ions in the process fluid, operating conditions, and adopting the appropriate preventative measures.
