bp extends GOM ultra-deepwater drillship contract

bp has let a 2-year contract to Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc. for the ultra-deepwater drillship Ocean BlackLion in the Gulf of Mexico.
The planned combination will create the fifth-largest Permian producer with nearly 840,000 acres.
ConocoPhillips Co. hit records with full-year total company and Lower 48 production of 1.826 MMboe/d and 1.067 MMboe/d, respectively, the company said in an earnings report Feb. 8.
