Toreador tests Akcakoca-4 well off Turkey
A Toreador Resources Corp. joint venture has encountered 37 m of gas-bearing sands in three zones between 1,159 m and 1,375 m TVD in the Akcakoca-4 wellthe 11th successful well in its South Akcakoca subbasin project off Turkey.

HOUSTON, Feb. 8 -- A Toreador Resources Corp. joint venture has encountered 37 m of gas-bearing sands in three zones between 1,159 m and 1,375 m TVD in the Akcakoca-4 well—the 11th successful well in its South Akcakoca subbasin project off Turkey.
Akcakoca-4, which Toreador says extends the area of known reserves in the project area, flowed 8.6 MMcfd of gas through a 48/64-in. choke with flowing tubing pressure of 630 psi during a test of 13 m of net pay in its deepest zone.
After tests of the upper zone, the Atwood Oceanics Inc. Southern Cross semisubmersible will move about 2.5 km east-northeast to drill the Guluc-1 well, which lies on a separate fault block further east along the Akcakoca fault trend. Once operations are complete on Guluc-1, the rig will move to Bulgarian waters to begin work for another operator.
Meanwhile, the JV has completed, tested, and tied back the Dogu Ayali-1 and 2 wells to the Dogu Ayazli tripod. The Dogu Ayazli-1 well tested at a combined rate of 14.2 MMcfd from two sets of perforations. In the deeper test, about 8 MMcfd flowed from 14 m of perforations at 1,036-80 m on a 36/48-in. choke with flowing pressure of 1,000 psi. The shallower test gauged 6.2 MMcfd from 17 m of perforations at 757-817 m on a 36/64-in. choke with flowing pressure of 810 psi.
Dogu Ayazli-2, which is being completed as a single completion, flowed 11 MMcfd from 13 m of perforations between 1,345 m and 1,402 m on a 48/64-in. choke at a flowing pressure of 745 psi.
Production from the South Akcakoca subbasin is expected after installation of the topsides for the Dogu Ayazli and Akkaya tripods and tie-in to the offshore pipeline, which has been tested and buried (OGJ Online, Jan. 4, 2007).
