BANGKOK, Dec. 11 -- Thailand's PTT Exploration & Production PLC (PTTEP) has farmed out a 40% share in its oil-bearing Block B6/27 in the Gulf of Thailand to Nippon Oil Exploration Ltd.

Nippon Oil will provide technical expertise to revive oil production from the 1,307 sq km tract, which houses Nang Nuan field 25 km off the Chumphon province.

Geological problems again led to suspension of Nang Nuan production, which had been yielding 1,375 b/d, in midyear.

Former operator Thai Shell Exploration & Production Co suspended Nang Nuan production in 1997 because of water intrusion. At peak, the field produced 12,000 b/d. PTTEP acquired the block in late 2003.
