LONDON, Aug. 28 -- StatoilHydro has tested dry gas in appraisal well TNK-2 (Tinerkouk 2) on the Hassi Mouina license area in Algeria and found hydrocarbons in formations of Lower Carboniferous age. This is the sixth positive well on the license (OGJ Online, Aug. 6, 2008).

"The encouraging results from the six wells give valuable information on the resource potential of the permit," StatoilHydro said.

StatoilHydro currently is drilling well TGN-1, an exploration well also situated in the southern part of the Hassi Mouina license.

StatoilHydro has a 75% interest in Hassi Mouina. Its partner Sonatrach has a 25% interest.
