HOUSTON, Aug. 21 -- Gold Point Energy Corp., Vancouver, BC, let a contact to LO&G Consultants GMBH to study unconventional gas potential in several unspecified Central European basins.

Acreage is relatively inexpensive due to low exploration activity in the region, the company pointed out, whereas the price of gas is $10-15/MMBtu due to the high cost of gas imported from Russia.

Gold Point is already involved in projects on 227,000-acre Block 106 in Poland with Gas Plus International BV and on two licenses that total 350,000 acres in eastern Bulgaria with JKX Oil & Gas PLC and Aurelian Oil & Gas PLC.
