Eni SPA is evaluating a natural gas discovery in the Nour North Sinai Concession offshore Egypt. The Nour-1 New Field Wildcat cut 33 m of gross sandstone pay with a 90-m gas column in the Oligocene Tineh formation.

The Saipem Scarabeo 9 semisubmersible drilled the well to 5,914 m TD in 295 m of water about 50 km north of the Sinai Peninsula.

Eni operates the concession with a 40% interest in participation with Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Co. Other interests are BP 25%, Mubadala Petroleum 20%, and Tharwa Petroleum Co. 15%.
