Independent refinery HollyFrontier Corp. said subsidiary HollyFrontier Woods Cross Refining LLC’s 45,000-b/sd Woods Cross refinery in West Bountiful, Utah, just north of Salt Lake City, is operating at reduced rates following a mid-March fire at the plant’s crude distillation unit.

Independent refinery HollyFrontier Corp., Dallas, said subsidiary HollyFrontier Woods Cross Refining LLC’s 45,000-b/sd Woods Cross refinery in West Bountiful, Utah, just north of Salt Lake City, is operating at reduced rates following a mid-March fire at the plant’s crude distillation unit.

The Mar. 12 fire did not result in any reported injuries, but the incident has impacted the refinery’s ability to receive crude oil deliveries, according to a Mar. 23 company release.

HollyFrontier said it remains in the process of determining the scope of damage caused by the fire, the extent to which it will affect or delay crude oil deliveries, and the steps necessary to repair the damage.

While HollyFrontier did not reveal further details regarding current operating rates at the plant, the company said it currently does not expect the event to have any material impact to its first-quarter 2018 consolidated crude throughput guidance.
