Units of Quicksilver Resources Inc., Fort Worth, and Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. LP have formed a midstream partnership to build and operate natural gas midstream services in British Columbia and the Northwest Territories of Canada.

Nexen Inc. and a consortium led by Japan’s Inpex Corp. agreed to create a joint venture to develop unconventional shale gas assets in the Horn River, Cordova, and Liard basins in northeastern British Columbia.

Pembina Pipeline Corp. will install five new pump stations and upgrade five existing pump stations to expand NGL throughput capacity on its Peace and Northern Pipelines (together the Northern NGL System) by 55,000 b/d to accommodate increased field liquids extraction by producers in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.

Spectra Energy Corp. has entered into multiyear agreements with Progress Energy Resources Corp. to provide a total 370 MMcfd of natural gas gathering and processing services for Montney shale production in northeast British Columbia.

Enbridge Inc. reached an agreement with Encana Corp., both of Calgary, to acquire Encana’s interest in the Cabin Gas plant in the Horn River basin of northeast British Columbia for $220 million (Can.). Closing is expected in December.

ExxonMobil Exploration Argentina SRL and a unit of Americas Petrogas Inc., Calgary, will explore and possibly exploit the Canadian company’s 163,500-acre Los Toldos blocks in the western Neuquen basin of Argentina for oil and gas in shales.

Only two more wells are needed to validate nearly all of Quicksilver Resources Inc.’s exploratory licenses in the Horn River basin of Northeast British Columbia and convert them to 10-year development leases.

Encana Corp. and PetroChina International Investment Co. were “unable to achieve substantial alignment” after more than a year on a proposed joint venture in Encana’s Cutbank Ridge assets in western Canada, including the joint operating agreement.

Canada’s National Energy Board approved TransCanada Corp.’s Horn River natural gas pipeline project. The pipeline will connect British Columbia shale gas supplies to TransCanada’s Alberta System.

Encana Oil & Gas (USA) Inc., subsidiary of Encana Corp., Calgary, will sell its Fort Lupton natural gas processing plant in Colorado to Western Gas Partners LP, Houston, for about $303 million.

AltaGas, Calgary, has let a contract to IMV Projects, a Wood Group company also based in Calgary, for the engineering, procurement, and construction management for the $235 million (Can.) Gordondale sour gas processing plant and associated gas gathering.
