Crusher Plug, a fire resistant plug for ducting plastic pipes through decks and bulkheads on offshore vessels, is now available for all types of plastic pipe, including PVC, PP, PE, and ABS, with a maximum outer diameter of 225 mm. Bureau Veritas has awarded the plug CE certification for these applications (under certificate No. 09155/A9 EC).

The plug is made from fire resistant rubber—expanding. When exposed to flames or to temperatures above 200° C. the rubber expands to more than 10 times its original volume and as a result totally compresses even aluminum pipe. Consequently the conduit opening carrying the pipe is closed and the fire is prevented from spreading any farther.

To prevent the early softening of plastics such as PVC and HDPE, the space in the conduit opening is filled with RISE fire resistant rubber/expanding, halogen free (FRR/EHF) material.

This material expands even faster than that of the Crusher Plug, thereby closing off the opening that is left by the softened or ignited plastic pipe,

For pipe with a maximum outer diameter of 44 mm, prefabricated RISE FRR/EHP sleeves can be used. The sleeves are split lengthwise, which makes them easy to fit around the plastic pipe. This helps reduce the installation time to a minimum, the firm points out.

For plastic pipe with an outer diameter larger than 44 mm, use is made of RISE FRR/EHF strips, which are wrapped around the pipe and then secured.

The Crusher Plug consists of two identical parts, which are installed at each side of the conduit opening after the pipe has been laid.

Both parts of the plug are pushed into the space between the ducted pipe and the wall of the conduit opening. Besides being fire resistant, the Crusher Plugs are also gastight and watertight. Their gas and watertightness is 1.5 bar and 2.5 bar, respectively.

Free catalog offers level measurement solutions

A comprehensive capabilities catalog, offered free upon request, highlights level measurement solutions.

The full-color catalog provides an overview of level measurement products, technology, and applications.

It details a range of point level and continuous level solutions and looks at eight level measurement technologies the company currently offers: RF admittance, radar, magnetostrictive, conductivity switch, ultrasonic, time domain reflectometry, hydrostatic pressure, and float switch.

It also provides information on the IntelliPoint no-calibration point level switch and its new Uniscan and IntelliScan family of noncontact ultrasonic devices.

New separator cleans air, gases, steam

New Wright-Austin Type T gas/liquid separators automatically remove 99% of all liquid and solid entrainment particles 10 microns in size or larger.

Separators are equally well adapted to use with air, gas, and steam process pipelines, and their no-moving-parts design eliminates the need for maintenance throughout their service life.

While the basic Type T separator meets the needs of most standard applications, the Type ST with integral trap as part of its design is available for special applications.

Its trap mechanism is a foolproof design that automatically ejects the condensate when it reaches a predetermined level, without loss of line pressure.

It is easily installed and can be supported by the line. Removal of the bottom flange releases the trap mechanism for inspection. A heater is available for applications below freezing.

Separators are available in cast or in fabricated construction. Cast iron is available in sizes up to 5 in. and in carbon or stainless steel up to 2 in.

Type T units in fabricated carbon or stainless steel are available in sizes up to 24 in. Fabricated construction allows the separators to be easily modified to meet the exact requirements of an application.
