Yasref continues exports, commissioning activities at Yanbu refinery

Yanbu Aramco Sinopec Refining Co. Ltd. (Yasref), a joint venture of Saudi Aramco (62.5%) and China Petrochemical Corp. (Sinopec) (37.5%), has exported the first shipment of petroleum coke (petcoke) from its 400,000-b/d refinery in Yanbu Industrial City on the west coast of Saudi Arabia along the Red Sea.

Total details revamp, conversion plan for French refineries

Total SA said it will spend €600 million to revitalize its refining business in France with projects that include an overhaul of the 220,000-b/d Donges refinery near Saint Nazaire, as well as a permanent shuttering of crude processing activities at the 153,000-b/d La Mede refinery on the French Riviera.

Phillips 66 lets contract for Sweeny refinery

Phillips 66 has let a contract to Elliott Group, Jeannette, Pa., to supply a compressor string for a major project at its 247,000-b/d Sweeny refinery in Old Ocean, Tex., that will enable the plant to meet requirements set forth by the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Tier 3 clean fuels standards.

Delek to acquire stake in Alon USA

Delek US Holdings Inc., Brentwood, Tenn., has agreed to acquire a minority interest in Alon Israel Oil Co. Ltd.’s US-based refining and marketing subsidiary Alon USA Energy Inc., Dallas, which owns and operates a 74,000-b/d refinery in Krotz Springs, La., as well as an idled 70,000-b/d, three-refinery complex in California.

Turkmenistan lets contracts for refinery upgrades, GTL plant

Turkmenistan has let contracts to a consortium led by South Korean firms Hyundai Engineering Co. Ltd. and LG International Corp. for work related to the modernization of the country’s Turkmenbashi refinery complex, as well as construction of a grassroots gas-to-liquids plant to be built near the capital city of Ashgabat.

EPA agrees to issue final 2014, 2015 biofuel quotas by Nov. 30

The US Environmental Protection Agency agreed to issue final biofuel quotas for 2014 and 2015 under the federal Renewable Fuel Standard by Nov. 30 in a tentative settlement of a lawsuit filed by the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers and American Petroleum Institute.

RIL commissions unit at Dahej petrochemical complex

Flint Hills advances Texas refinery expansion

Flint Hills Resources, a unit of Koch Industries Inc., has let a contract to KBR Inc., Houston, for work related to Project Eagle Ford (PEF), a $600 million project designed to increase processing capabilities for US light crude oil production at its 230,000-b/d West refinery in Corpus Christi, Tex.
