Petroleum and natural gas systems remained the second-largest greenhouse gas emitting group as the US Environmental Protection Agency released its 2014 summary of reported emissions on Oct. 6. But it quickly became hard to determine how much of the nearly 3.5% increase in the group’s total emissions increase from 2013 was because the number of reporting facilities had grown 10.3% year-to-year.

HollyFrontier lets contract for unit at Navajo refinery

LLC, a subsidiary of HollyFrontier Corp., Dallas, has let a fixed-price contract to KP Engineering LP (KPE), Tyler, Tex., to deliver detailed engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services for a gasoline hydrotreater to be built at the 100,000-b/d Navajo refinery at Artesia, NM.

Gas processors seek more time to comment on proposed EPA methane rules

The Gas Processors Association has requested more time to comment on four proposed rules covering methane emissions from oil and gas operations. The Tulsa trade association asked for 60 additional days beyond the Nov. 17 deadline EPA established when it announced the proposed requirements on Sept. 18.

Targa, Sanchez Energy form Eagle Ford gas JV

Targa Resources Partners LP and Sanchez Energy Corp. have agreed to form joint ventures that will construct a 200-MMcfd cryogenic natural gas processing plant in La Salle County, Tex., and 45 miles of high-pressure gathering pipelines that will connect Sanchez Energy’s Catarina gathering system to the plant.
