Shell sells down its shareholder interest in Woodside

Royal Dutch Shell PLC reported it will sell 156.5 million shares in Woodside Petroleum Ltd. for $5 billion. The sale will reduce Shell’s shareholding to 4.5% from 23.1%.

Noble to acquire interest in BP E&P deepwater gulf acreage

Noble Energy Inc., Houston, has reached an agreement with BP Exploration & Production Inc. to acquire 50% of BP E&P’s interest in 17 deepwater exploration leases in the Atwater Valley protraction area of the Gulf of Mexico.

Russia shuts off natural gas shipments to Ukraine

Russia’s OAO Gazprom has halted shipments of natural gas to Ukraine after the collapse of negotiations over gas prices. The shutdown is the first since January 2009.

Williams to buy Access Midstream Partners

Williams, Tulsa, has agreed to acquire the 50% general partner interest it doesn’t now own in Access Midstream Partners LP, Oklahoma City, along with limited partnership units raising its stake to 50% from Global Infrastructures Partners II for $5.995 billion cash.

Denbury appoints senior vice-presidents

Denbury Resources Inc., Plano, Tex., has named Brad Kerr as senior vice-president, planning, technology, CO2 supply, and pipelines. He succeeds Charlie Gibson, who has been appointed to the newly created position of senior vice-president, production operations.

McClendon's American Energy units to acquire acreage in major US basins

American Energy–Permian Basin LLC (AEPB), American Energy–Utica LLC (AEU), and American Energy-Marcellus LLC (AEM), all affiliates of Oklahoma City-based American Energy Partners LP (AEP), have each signed agreements to acquire acreage in the Permian, Utica, and Marcellus basins, respectively, in deals totaling $4.25 billion.

NGSA: US gas prices to feel slight upward pressure this summer

US natural gas likely will feel modest upward pressure this summer from levels a year earlier when Henry Hub prices averaged $3.77/MMbtu, the Natural Gas Supply Association said in its 2014 Outlook for Summer Gas, released June 4.

Chevron to sell interests in Chad, Cameroon

Chevron Corp. reported that its subsidiary Chevron Global Energy Inc. has sold its 25% nonoperated interest in a producing oil concession in southern Chad and the related export pipeline interests to the Republic of Chad for $1.3 billion. The sale closed June 13.

Silver Creek, PostRock form Woodford JV

Silver Creek Oil & Gas LLC, Irving, Tex., and PostRock Energy Corp., Oklahoma City, have formed a joint venture covering 17,900 gross acres in the Woodford shale area of Cleveland and Pottawatomie counties in central Oklahoma.
