Shell probing oil reserves at Malampaya field off Philippines

Oct 15, 2001 On the eve of the official inauguration of the $4.5 billion Malampaya deepwater gas-to-power project in the Philippines, operator Shell Philippines Exploration plans to begin tests on an exploration well that it hopes will provide better data on the 50 million bbl of oil reserves.

Nov 5, 2001 US natural gas production is starting to slip in response to lower natural gas prices, analysts said. Actual natural gas production for integrated producers fell to 11.49 bcf in the third quarter from previous estimates of 11.75 bcf, according to Raymond James & Associates.

Feb 1, 2002 Kerr-McGee Oil & Gas Corp. began production at Nansen field in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico, using the world's first truss spar. Output is expected to ramp up to a peak of 40,000 b/d and 80 MMcfd in the fourth quarter. Kerr-McGee and Ocean Energy Inc. each have 50% of the project.

FMC Technologies to provide wellhead trees for Devils Tower, Medusa

Feb 7, 2002 Mentor Subsea, an affiliate of J. Ray McDermott SA, has selected FMC Technologies Inc. to provide wellhead trees and associated services for Dominion Exploration & Production Inc.'s Devils Tower spar and Murphy Oil Corp.'s Medusa spar, both in the Gulf of Mexico.

Feb 28, 2002 Phillips Petroleum Co. UK Ltd., a unit of Phillips Petroleum Co., said Thursday that production of 60 MMcfd of natural gas and 4,500 b/d of oil has begun from high-pressure, high-temperature Jade field in the UK North Sea. Phillips and its partners expect to reach peak production of 200 MMscfd of gas and 16,000 b/d of oil in the third quarter.
