U.N. MISSION REPORT CONFIRMS KUWAIT'S INDUSTRY IS IN TATTERS

Jul 15, 1991 A detailed assessment of damage to Kuwait's oil operations by a United Nations mission to the country in April confirms that the once prosperous oil sector is reduced to shambles. At the time of the visit, part of an assessment of the total damage to the Kuwaiti infrastructure, 550 of Kuwait's 980 active wells were ablaze. When the Wafrah area of the Neutral Zone was taken into account, the number of active wells rose to 1,330, of which about 700 were on fire.

BG awards Blake field pipeline contract

SABIC starts up polyolefin expansions

Jun 29, 2000 Saudi Arabian Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC) said Wednesday that test operations have begun at several of its polyolefin expansion projects. SABIC Managing Director and Deputy Chairman Mohammed al Madhi detailed the completed expansions, along with some that are nearly finished, to the Saudi Press Agency earlier this week.

West Epsilon rig to move to Fr�y field

Nuggets subsea plans start to pan out

Aug 2, 2000 TotalFinaElf has awarded the EPIC subsea facilities and pipelines contract for Phases 1 and 3 of its Nuggets gas development in the northern North Sea to a consortium of Coflexip Stena Offshore and ABB Offshore Systems. CSOL will handle design, procurement, and fabrication of the four pipelines for Nuggets, as well as perform all offshore installation and tie-ins of the pipelines, umbilicals, and manifolds. ABB is to provide horizontal trees, controls systems, umbilicals, and manifolds.

Washington, DC, firm says FPS market strong

Sep 7, 2000 Over the next 5 years, 13-17 floating production systems will be ordered every year, says International Maritime Associates Inc., Washington, DC. In its latest forecast of the outlook for floating production, storage, and offloading vessels; production semisubmersibles; tension-leg platforms; and spars, IMA said the fundamentals for the FPS sector look very strong. It believes companies will spend $16-21.9 billion on FPS orders over the next 5 years.

Shell, Esso award pipe contracts to CSO

Sep 7, 2000 Coflexip Stena Offshore said Tuesday that its Norwegian entity Coflexip Stena Offshore Norge AS has been awarded engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contracts, worth more than 60 million euros combined, by AS Norske Shell and Esso Exploration & Production Norway AS.

Unocal begins production from marginal Indonesian field

Nov 3, 2000 Unocal Corp. has begun producing 4,700 b/d of crude oil from Mahoni field off Indonesia's Borneo Island. Production started from a single well in Balikpapan Bay, off East Kalimantan. Unocal plans to bring another three wells in the field on stream by the end of this year.

Petrobras awards Roncador field subsea contract

Dec 5, 2000 Petrobras has awarded Coflexip Stena Offshore and Premier Marche's Brazilian entity Flexibras the Roncador contract to design and install 566 km of flexible risers, flowlines and umbilicals, to tie back 21 satellite subsea wells in the field to the P-36 platform. The Roncador field is located in the Campos basin off Brazil.

North Sea's Captain field begins phase two output

Dec 27, 2000 Texaco North Sea UK Co. and the Korea Captain Co. Ltd. Wednesday began production from the second phase (Area B) of their Captain field development in Block 13/22a of the UK North Sea. The $500 million expansion will bring production from 60,000 b/d to 85,000 b/d during 2001

Enterprise to develop Corrib gas field off Ireland

Feb 26, 2001 Enterprise Oil PLC said Monday its partners had approved its 500 million Irish pound subsea development of Corrib gas field. The field will be developed by 2003 via seven subsea wells tied back to a central gathering manifold. A pipeline will move the gas to an onshore facility.
