IHS study measures economic benefits of unconventional oil and gas production

A new state-by-state study estimates total unconventional oil and gas production in the Lower 48 will contribute $63 billion in federal, state, and local tax revenues in 2012, with contributions rising to nearly $113 by 2020, said IHS.

Statoil acquires central Marcellus acreage for $590 million

Statoil ASA has acquired 70,000 operated net acres in the central Marcellus shale in Ohio and West Virginia for $590 million from three US private companies: Grenadier Energy Partners LLC, PetroEdge Energy LLC, and Protege Energy LLC.  The transaction closed Dec. 18, with Sept. 1 being the effective date.

ROVs find no leaking oil from Macondo
