New Orleans judge gives final approval to BP Macondo settlement

US District Judge Carl Barbier in New Orleans gave final approval to BP PLC’s settlement in a class action lawsuit with a number of businesses and individuals regarding the April 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico from the deepwater Macondo well off Louisiana.

Statoil acquires central Marcellus acreage for $590 million

Statoil ASA has acquired 70,000 operated net acres in the central Marcellus shale in Ohio and West Virginia for $590 million from three US private companies: Grenadier Energy Partners LLC, PetroEdge Energy LLC, and Protege Energy LLC.  The transaction closed Dec. 18, with Sept. 1 being the effective date.

ROVs find no leaking oil from Macondo
