Rio Napo, a 70-30 joint venture of Ecuador's state oil company Petroecuador and Venezuela’s Petroleos de Venezuela SA (PDVSA), has begun operating Sacha oil field in Ecuador's Amazon.

Longhorn gas field starts in Gulf of Mexico (Nov 3, 2009)

Eni SPA has started production from Longhorn gas field in 2,500 ft of water on Mississippi Canyon Blocks 502/546 in the Gulf of Mexico off Louisiana.

Daniel Boone discovery starts up in US gulf (Oct 28, 2009)

W&T Offshore Inc., Houston, started oil and natural gas production from the Daniel Boone discovery well in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico.

Nexus Energy brings Longtom gas field on stream (Oct 27, 2009)

Nexus Energy Ltd., Melbourne, has brought on stream its wholly owned Longtom natural gas field in Bass Strait.

Oil flow from Malaysian block delayed again (Oct 22, 2009)

Start of production at Malaysia’s offshore Block SK-305 will be delayed again by technical problems, said an official of Indonesia’s state-owned PT Pertamina, which holds a minority stake in the development.

Eni starts Blacktip gas field off Australia (Sep 15, 2009)

Eni Australia’s wholly owned Blacktip natural gas field in the Bonaparte Gulf has been brought on stream via two wells on a wellhead platform, with production moving to a gas processing plant at Wadeye on the Northern Territory coast and a 275-km pipeline to the Alice Springs-Darwin trunkline farther east.

Tombua-Landana project off Angola starts oil production (Sep 9, 2009)

Cabinda Gulf Oil Co. Ltd. started oil production from the $3.8 billion Tombua-Landana project on Block 14 about 50 miles off Angola.

Cairn India starts oil production at Rajasthan (Sep 2, 2009)

Cairn India Ltd. started oil production at its Mangala field in Rajasthan state in part of the larger complex of Mangala, Bhagyam, and Aishwariya (MBA) fields.

Block B-17 in Malaysia-Thailand JDA nears production phase (Aug 26, 2009)

Carigali-PTTEPI Operating Co. Sdn. Bhd. (CPOC) is on course to start natural gas production from Block B-17 in the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Development Area (JDA) in October.

Petrobel starts gas production at North Bardawil field (Aug 25, 2009)

A consortium led by Belayim Petroleum Co. (Petrobel), a joint operating company owned by International Egypt Oil Co. (IEOC) and Egyptian General Petroleum Corp., brought on stream Egypt’s North Bardawil gas field via a subsea production system that will deliver 17,000 boe/d at full capacity.

Ceres gas field to start up production this year (Aug 17, 2009)

Venture Production PLC reported it plans to start production from Ceres natural gas field in the southern UK North Sea later this year.

Maersk Oil starts production from Affleck (Aug 17, 2009)

Maersk Oil UK Ltd. has brought Affleck field on stream in the central UK North Sea, adding potentially 8,000 b/d of oil to its portfolio when it reaches full capacity.

Gas sales start from Kambuna field off Sumatra (Aug 13, 2009)

Salamander Energy PLC and Serica Energy PLC announced the start of gas sales from Kambuna field in the Glagah Kambuna Technical Assistance Contract (TAC) area of the Malacca Straits, 40 km off North Sumatra, Indonesia.
